Alfa Romeo of Winter Haven and Monroe Superstore (the group which our dealership is a proud member of) would like to give a special thanks to everyone who helped make our Low Payment Kings’ 6th Annual 18 Aces to Conquer Cancer event a huge success. This year, we raised over $22,000 for Karmanos Pancreatic Cancer Research, a feat we couldn’t have accomplished without the support of our customers, sponsors, and employees.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers to affect the human body, and the team at our Alfa Romeo dealer serving Auburndale, FL was reminded of this fact with the recent passing of singing legend Aretha Franklin.

Though the pancreas is only around six inches long, its job is an important one: it produces insulin and digestive juices to help the body process food. Risk factors for pancreatic cancer include obesity, diabetes, smoking, and genetic traits. More than 50 percent of pancreatic cancer cases are linked to people over the age of 70, and the cancer rarely affects anyone younger than 40.

Globally, more than 410,000 cases of pancreatic cancer were reported in 2015. The prognosis for patients is a difficult one: only 25 percent of people survive for one year after diagnosis, and just five percent live for five years. Clearly this is an illness that deserves our time and support.

When you next shop at our nearby Alfa Romeo dealer for an Alfa Romeo Stelvio or Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio near Auburndale, FL, be sure to ask about next year’s event, which is already in the works. The 2019 Low Payment Kings’18 Aces to Conquer Cancer event will take place on March 19, 2019 at the Country Club of Winter Haven.
